Research is primarily applications of CFD, ranging from respiratory health to indoor air quality — centred on how we breathe aerosols, air, and fluids.
A multi-disciplinary research project investigating health risk and injury caused by inhalation exposure. Computational modelling combined with experimental measurement to understand air-and-particle dynamics.

Read more ↓Laser imaging techniques — PIV, LDA, PDPA — combined with high-speed filming to image fluid–particle systems, including spray atomisation and wake flows from moving objects.
Read more →Investigating respiratory function from the environment into the upper respiratory airway — the nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, and tracheobronchial airway. The inhaled air may also contain airborne particles, which we account for. We seek to understand the behaviour of biological fluids such as mucus, and physiological functions such as olfaction, inhalation, and clearance of foreign particles in the airway.
Investigating indoor air and particle flow behaviour for improving energy efficiency and thermal comfort in building designs, and inhalation exposure to contaminants. The ventilated air is typically accompanied by buoyancy forces due to temperature differences in the room. Any occupants inside a room introduce additional heat flux, while contaminants in the enclosed environment become prone to re-dispersion from occupant movement. Read more →
